What Is Flagle?

Flagle is a daily browser game where you guess a mystery country from its flag. The flag is split into six tiles and revealed gradually; there are no letters and no map — just the flag and, after each guess, a distance in kilometres and an arrow pointing toward the answer. It was made by teuteuf (the studio behind Worldle) and rides the daily-guessing habit of Wordle, but rewards a feel for flags and geography instead of spelling. Despite the similar names, Flagle (flags) is not Worldle (country outlines) or Wordle (five-letter words).

How to Play, Step by Step

Read the flag

Look at the colours and layout first. Horizontal or vertical bands, a canton, a central emblem, a crescent or star? Many flags are recognisable from a single tile — Japan's red disc, Canada's maple leaf, Brazil's globe.

Guess and read the clues

You get six guesses. Each wrong one reveals more of the flag and returns the distance to the answer plus a direction arrow. Play toward the arrow and watch the distance shrink.

Close it out

Two or three guesses usually bracket the answer. Once you're within a few hundred kilometres, the neighbouring countries are your shortlist.

Flagle Strategy & Reading Flags

Because Flagle scores distance and reveals the flag gradually, the strongest play is to read the flag's features and use geography second. Colour families are a fast filter: Pan-African red-gold-green, Pan-Arab red-white-black-green, the Nordic off-centre cross, Latin American blue-white bands. Watch the corners for a canton or emblem, and mind the look-alikes — Chad and Romania, Indonesia and Monaco, Ireland and Côte d'Ivoire differ only in shade or ratio. Learn a few dozen flags on sight and pair them with the direction arrow, and most puzzles fall in three or four guesses.
