What Is Worldle?

Worldle is a daily browser game where you guess a mystery country from its outline alone. There's no map label and no letters — just the silhouette and, after each guess, a distance in kilometres, an arrow pointing toward the answer, and a proximity percentage. It was made by teuteuf and rides the daily-guessing habit of Wordle, but rewards a feel for shapes and geography instead of spelling. Despite the near-identical name, Worldle (country outlines) is not Wordle (five-letter words).

How to Play, Step by Step

Read the outline

Look at the shape first. Long and thin, blocky, an island cluster? Many countries are recognisable from the silhouette alone — Italy's boot, Chile's ribbon, Japan's arc.

Guess and read the clues

You get six guesses. Each wrong one returns the distance to the answer, a direction arrow, and a proximity percentage (🟩 ≈ 20%, 🟨 ≈ 10%). Play toward the arrow and watch the distance shrink.

Close it out

Two or three guesses usually bracket the answer. Once you're within a few hundred kilometres, the neighbouring countries are your shortlist.

Worldle Strategy & Best Starting Countries

Because Worldle scores distance, strong openers are large, central countries whose direction arrow rules out a whole hemisphere in one guess — Kazakhstan, DR Congo, Brazil, or Germany. Play one, read the arrow, and step toward it. The real skill, though, is learning outlines: a dozen signature shapes (Italy, Chile, Norway, Japan, Australia) solve a huge share of days on sight. Pair shape recognition with the direction clue and most puzzles fall in three or four guesses.
